Employee Spotlight: Dmitrii Skriabin, QA Engineer

On a regular basis, we talk with our team members about their experience working at Canoe, and their future goals and aspirations. This week, we spoke with Dmitrii Skriabin, QA Engineer.

Tell us about your background. How did you find Canoe?

I started my career in IT in 2005. From my youth, I had a passion for understanding technologies, troubleshooting, and learning new things. That is why I chose to be a Service Desk Engineer and help people around the world with their hardware issues. One of the companies where I applied my Client Service skills was as a Team Leader at IBM. Around 4 years ago, I found a new field where I could grow, feed my curiosity, and keep helping people—software development. I read a lot of books about coding and took a few online and offline classes about programming languages, QA, and cybersecurity. After spending the last 5 months in a full-time Full Stack and QA bootcamp, I moved into QA at Canoe. My friends Daniil and Jonn, who work at Canoe as a developer and DevOps Engineer, respectively, influenced my decision to join the company. They shared with me a lot of good things about the team, including the friendly atmosphere and company culture that encourages developing yourself in different ways. This is very important for me. Also, my friends shared stories of their exciting projects, such as machine learning, performance, and infrastructure optimization—I was so impressed!

What do you like most about being a QA Engineer?

Our QA Team and Canoe’s amazing product! As a Service Desk Engineer, I troubleshot issues when users reported them. But QA gives me the opportunity to help people proactively – resolve the problems before our clients face them! Each engineer on our team pays attention to small details, product behavior, and performance to provide the highest level of service. I am proud to assure the quality of Canoe’s Platform.

How has your career grown since starting at the company?

When I started to work in Canoe I did a lot of manual QA testing, but now I have a deeper understanding of how the platform works. I automated it, so now I can spend more time on more complex and exciting tasks like performance and cybersecurity testing.

What about Canoe’s growth is the most exciting from your perspective?

We are living in the 21st century, but there is still a lot of important work that is voluminous, monotonous, and manual. As I said, I like to help people. Canoe’s platform is helping people with this type of work in the best way possible because handling it is just right for Canoe AI – with increased precision and less time! I am happy to see that Canoe is growing and more people can get freedom from boring tasks and have more time for creative challenges. It is a great pleasure for me to be part of the extraordinary team and contribute to a better future, where AI will help people everywhere.
